Reginald Mobley | Agave Baroque

1 album on VGo Recordings

Grammy-nominated American countertenor Reginald Mobley is one of the most sought-after vocal artists in early music today, celebrated for the warmth and expressive depth he brings to Baroque, Classical, and contemporary repertoire. He has appeared with many of the world's leading ensembles, including the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, and the Wiener Akademie.

On the orchestral stage, Mobley has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Montreal Symphony, among others. His operatic roles include Ottone in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea and Disinganno in Handel's Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno. His first solo album, released on ALPHA Classics with pianist Baptiste Trotignon, won the Opus Klassik Award.

A passionate advocate for expanding the early music canon, Mobley serves as Programming Consultant for the Handel & Haydn Society — the first person to hold the position — Visiting Artist for Diversity Outreach with Apollo's Fire, and Artistic Advisor at the Portland Baroque Orchestra. He currently leads an AHRC-funded research project in the UK exploring music by composers from diverse backgrounds.

His longstanding collaboration with Agave Baroque produced Peace in Our Time for VGo Recordings, released to mark the 400th anniversary of the Thirty Years' War — a program that brings together music of conflict and consolation with the interpretive depth and emotional power that define his artistry.
