Cristina Pérez Madiedo
Cuban classical guitarist Cristina Pérez Madiedo brings a deep connection to the Latin American guitar tradition, shaped by a musical lineage that includes her mother, the accomplished guitarist and teacher Teresa Madiedo. A first-prize winner at the 2007 Boston GuitarFest, Pérez Madiedo has performed at international guitar festivals across Mexico, Cuba, and Ecuador, earning recognition for her expressive interpretations of both Latin American and European repertoire.
She has served as guitar professor at the Manuel Saumell and Adolfo Guzmán conservatories and the Escuela Nacional de Música (ENA) in Havana, Cuba, and holds a Doctorate in Education from the Universidad Americana de Europa. Her artistry has inspired composers as well — Eduardo Martín dedicated his piece IX – El vacío de tu ausencia to her.
Her recording for VGo Recordings, Eliot Fisk Guitar Series, Vol. 2 (2008), features works by Antonio Lauro, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, and Domenico Scarlatti, showcasing the warmth and technical command that define her playing.
