Mexican classical guitarist Cecilio Perera has established himself as one of the most compelling artists of his generation, praised for his musicality, expressiveness, and virtuosity. Born in Mérida, Yucatán in 1983, Perera commands a remarkably broad repertoire spanning Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary works, as well as music rooted in Latin American folklore.

Perera's formidable competition record includes first prizes at the prestigious Michele Pittaluga International Competition in Alessandria, Italy (2011), the XXXII International Guitar Competition in Volos, Greece (2015), and the International Guitar Competition in Boston (2008), along with a Silver Medal at the Berlin International Music Competition (2019). In 2003, the President of Mexico awarded him the National Prize of Youth in Arts.

He performs regularly across Europe, Latin America, North America, and Asia at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Festspielhaus Salzburg, and concert halls in St. Petersburg, Boston, and Mexico City. Perera studied at the Universidad Veracruzana and later at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg under Eliot Fisk and Ricardo Gallén, graduating with distinction. He currently serves on the faculty at the Mozarteum and is Artistic Director of the concert series "Treffpunkt Solitär: Die Gitarre."

His recording of 20th Century Guitar Music for VGo Recordings captures the interpretive range and technical brilliance that have made him a sought-after recitalist on the international stage.
