He currently serves as Professor of Guitar at Illinois State University.
An active performer of solo and chamber music, Favis has given recitals throughout the United States and internationally, and has appeared as a featured soloist with both the Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. He has served as an adjudicator in several competitions and has given master classes at the University of the Philippines, Roosevelt University, Mahidol University in Bangkok, and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in Vietnam.
Philippine Treasures Vol. 2 continues the project Favis began with Volume 1, bringing the rich heritage of Filipino folk songs and serenades to a universal audience through soulful classical guitar interpretations. The album features beloved Filipino compositions by master composers including Nicanor Abelardo, Francisco Santiago, and Bayani Mendoza de Leon, alongside traditional songs that form the bedrock of Philippine musical culture. These 19th- and early 20th-century melodies represent the roots of contemporary Filipino music, and in Favis's hands they are revealed as works of genuine depth and beauty, deserving of a place in the international classical guitar repertoire.
