Roberto Granados

1 album on VGo Recordings

Multi-genre guitarist, composer, and arranger Roberto Granados first gained national attention as a child prodigy in classical and flamenco music. Originally from Hayward, California, he was inspired by Jimi Hendrix and his uncle to begin studying classical guitar at age six with Gyorgy Vass and flamenco at age eight with Jason McGuire. By nine, he appeared on NPR's From the Top; at ten, he performed for President Barack Obama; and at twelve, he made his professional solo debut with the California Symphony performing Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez.

Granados studied under Marc Teicholz and Sérgio Assad at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and later earned his graduate degree from the Yale School of Music. His genre-crossing career has brought him into collaboration with artists as diverse as progressive rock vocalist Jon Anderson of Yes, ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, and Earth, Wind & Fire. He is a permanent member of the San Francisco Guitar Quartet.

His recording of Soñador for VGo Recordings showcases the extraordinary range and musical imagination of an artist equally at home in the classical, flamenco, and popular traditions.
