Patrice Mathews

1 album on VGo Recordings

Harpsichordist Patrice Mathews is widely known in the field of early music for her fluent and emotionally powerful playing. Originally trained as a pianist, she studied with Sylvia Ghiglieri, Witold Malcuzynski, Lilian Kallir, and Lee Luvisi before attending the Mannes College of Music in New York, where she freelanced as an accompanist.

Her deepening interest in Baroque music drew her to the San Francisco Bay Area's historically informed performance community. She studied harpsichord with John Gibbons and Laurette Goldberg while earning her master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory, and has since established herself as a sought-after soloist and chamber musician in the early music world.

Teatro Imaginario, her first solo harpsichord recording, is available on VGo Recordings.
